Izo FitzRoy
7.30pm SATURDAY 20th JULY 2024
£30
Izo FitzRoy, the talented gospel, blues, soul and jazz singer-songwriter, distinguished herself from her peers with her first two albums, ‘Skyline’ (2017) and ‘How The Mighty Fall’ (2020). Her music which features uplifting harmonies, powerful lead vocals, and impressive live performances, has garnered widespread worldwide critical acclaim. As a result, she has earned plays on various BBC radio stations, including BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music and BBC London JazzFM and recently appeared on Jools Holland’s popular BBC 2 TV show.
London born and with her love of classic, soul and gospel, Izo spent some time getting the New Orleans Delta air in her lungs. A contralto, that once listened to is easily identified and runs the spectrum from jazz, blues, through to rough and ready R&B. Izo takes inspiration from female blues legends like Janis Joplin with their raw, powerful sounds, also inspired in part by her own gospel roots, spending years singing with, leading and directing touring choirs.
With a talent as raw and pure as Izo’s, it’s no wonder she has gained such respect within the industry. Her live performances are other worldly and ooze emotional feeling, taking the listener on a palpable journey of Fitzroy’s innermost thoughts. With her unique 7 piece band line up, including her gospel vocalists, this is a truly special live show.
Please note this concert will begin at 7.30pm.
